Miley nearly gets struck by lightning, and dreams about when her parents first met at a diner. In the dream, her parents almost don't meet, which means they would not have been born, and Jackson starts to disappear. Miley desperately tries to get her parents to look into each other's eyes because, as Robby says, "it was love at first sight". Lilly and Oliver get stuck to chairs, and they try to find a way to get "unstuck", so they don't miss the Maroon 5 concert. The title of the episode is based on the song "The Way We Were" by Barbra Streisand.
