A Song Made for Miley

Ready, Set, Don't Go

What I think of Ready, Set, Don't Go

I think Ready, Set, Don't go is a wonderful yet sad song. I find it really toching that Billy Ray cyrus would dedicate a song to his daughter. That is just so wonderful. That is what I call some father- daughter bonding. Miley is so lucky to have a great dad like Billy Ray. I personally love the song Ready, Set, Don't Go. I like the music video. I really like the ending when they show Miley as a baby first learning to walk. The first time I saw the music video I cried. But those tears were mixed, both sad and happy. These days when I watch the music video it still makes me cry. I love the music video and the song. It's just really special. It is my favorite song by Billy Ray Cyrus.

All about Ready, Set, Don't Go

Ready, Set, Don't Go" is a country music song from 2007 by Billy Ray Cyrus, first available on iTunes, and the CD Home At Last. The single is Cyrus' first chart entry on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts since "The Other Side" in 2003, as well as his first Top 40 entry since 2001's "You Won't Be Lonely Now".
Originally recorded as a solo song, "Ready, Set, Don't Go" was re-released in October of 2007 as a duet with Cyrus' daughter Miley Cyrus. Upon the release of the duet version, the song saw a significant increase in airplay.

Music video

The music video for the song was directed by Elliot Lester. It has Billy Ray sitting a couple suitcases playing his guitar and singing the song, with older home videos back when his daughter Miley was a baby, and when she was growing up, along with a few clips of their show Hannah Montana. The video debuted in July on CMT's Top 20 Countdown.

The song was first heard partially on an episode of Hannah Montana. It was hinted in a video interview that he first wrote the song at the beginning of the Hannah Montana series when he wasn't ready to let his daughter go off and act on her own.

Duet version

Billy Ray and Miley debuted the duet version of on the October 9, 2007 episode on the ABC series "Dancing With the Stars".

Chart performance

"Ready, Set, Don't Go" debuted at #47 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. After moving down the charts for a few weeks, the single rebounded with the release of the duet version. (The solo and duet versions are counted as the same song when the Billboard charts are tabulated.) The song is also Miley's first entry on the country charts, as well as Billy Ray's first Top 40 hit on the country charts since 2000's "You Won't Be Lonely Now".

Ready, Set, Don't Go Lyrics

She's gotta do what she's gotta do
And I've gotta like it or not
She's got dreams too big for this town
And she needs to give 'em a shot
Whatever they are
Looks like she's all ready to leave
Nothing left to pack
Ain't no room for me in that car
Even if she asked me to tag along
God I gotta be strong
She's at the startin' line of the rest of her life
As ready as she's ever been
Got the hunger and the stars in her eyes
The prize is hers to win
She's waitin' on my blessings before she hits that open road
Baby get ready
Get set
Don't go
She says things are fallen into place
Feels like they're fallen apartI painted this big ol' smile on my face
To hide my broken heartIf only she knew
This is where I don't say what I want so bad to say
This is where I want to but I won't get in the way
Of her and her dreamsAnd spreadin' her wings
She's at the startin' line of the rest of her life
As ready as she's ever been
Got the hunger and the stars in her eyes
The prize is hers to win
She's waitin' on my blessings before she hits that open road
Baby get ready
Get set
Don't go
She's at the startin' line of the rest of her life
As ready as she's ever been
Got the hunger and the stars in her eyes
The prize is hers to win
She's waitin' on my blessings before she hits thatopen road
Baby get ready
Get set
Please don't go
Don't go
Don't go
Whoa....
She's gotta do what she's gotta do
She's gotta do what she's gotta do

Pregnancy Rumore Haox

On September 24, 2007 rumors began circulating that Cyrus was pregnant! The cause of the rumor was an image of a page of J-14 Magazine circulating on the Internet entitled "Miley's Meltdown" and saying among other things "Miley herself confirmed the pregnancy rumors during a J-14 interview". J-14 immediately responded saying that, "Someone doctored the "This Just In" article that appeared on page 16 of J-14's July 2007 issue" and that "this story is completely fabricated! The real story on J-14's Page 16 magazine was about 'Miley's Gross Habits' told by her co-stars on the set of Hannah Montana!

Career

Miley Cyrus became interested in acting at age nine when the family briefly lived in Toronto, Canada. Her first acting role was as a guest star on her father's television series Doc, in which she played a girl named Kylie. In 2003, she played "Young Ruthie" in Tim Burton's Big Fish and was credited as Destiny Cyrus. She was also featured in Rhonda Vincent's music video for "If Heartaches Have Wings", and appeared on Colgate Country Showdown with her father, who was hosting the program. Cyrus was eleven years old when she originally auditioned for Disney for the lead as well as the "best friend" roles, Disney Channel executives then judged her to be "too small", however Miley was persistent in her desire to be part of the show, so Disney called her back for further auditions when she turned 12. According to Disney Channel Executive Vice President Gary Marsh, Cyrus was chosen for Hannah Montana because of her energetic and lively performance and was seen as a person who "loves every minute of life", with the "everyday relatability of Hilary Duff and the stage presence of Shania Twain". She spent several years to get rid of her Southern accent, but in the end Disney wanted her to revive it. Later in an unusual twist, Cyrus had to audition her own father, Billy Ray Cyrus, to see if he would fit the role as Hannah's dad. Cyrus currently stars in Hannah Montana as the lead character Miley Stewart, whose alter ego is the pop music sensation Hannah Montana. Cyrus also performs in character as Hannah Montana for albums and concerts. In 2004, Cyrus became a spokesperson for Daisy Rock Guitars, when she was presented with her first Daisy Rock guitar— the Stardust Series Acoustic Electric Pink Sparkle. It was given to her by her parents from her father's Country Music Television fan meet-and-greet when she was twelve years old.On June 22, 2006, a performance of a Hannah Montana concert (featuring Cyrus as Hannah Montana) at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida was recorded for the Disney Channel. Cyrus spent the rest of 2006 opening for The Cheetah Girls on 20 dates of their 39-city tour. Cyrus also appeared in the Disney Channel Hannah Montana promotion, "Hannah Montana's Backstage Secrets", in which she portrays Hannah Montana in a fictional interview set in the show's canon.Walt Disney Records released the Hannah Montana soundtrack on October 24, 2006. The soundtrack included eight of the songs that Cyrus performed as Hannah Montana. Cyrus also signed a four-album major record deal with Hollywood Records for her own albums.Cyrus is good friends with fellow Hannah Montana co-stars Emily Osment and Mitchel Musso, often texting and conference calling each other during busy days. Miley Cyrus also taught Emily Osment how to play the guitar and Osment taught Cyrus how to knit. She is also friends with the stars of the highly successful TV movie High School Musical, including Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale. Cyrus had a brief cameo in High School Musical 2 credited as "Girl at Pool", where she danced in front of the pool wearing a yellow baby doll top before the end credits.Cyrus performed as Hannah Montana at the Walt Disney Christmas Parade on December 25, 2006, singing her version of the holiday classic "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."In June 26, 2007, exactly eight months after the release of the first soundtrack, Cyrus released a double album, Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus. The first disc served as the second Hannah Montana soundtrack, while the second disc was Cyrus' debut album as herself. She co-wrote, credited as "Destiny Hope Cyrus", eight of the ten songs. While attending the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix premiere, Cyrus stated that they are working on ideas for a Hannah Montana movie. The feature-length film is to be produced by Cyrus's both on and off-screen dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.Disney released a Hannah Montana clothing collection in late summer. Cyrus helped to design some of the pieces from the collection. "It's not a costume. A tween girl isn't doing dress-up, they want to look like they could be Hannah Montana's friend. This is a fashion line.Walt Disney Records has announced that Cyrus will be performing both as herself and in character as Hannah Montana on a 54-date North American Best of Both Worlds Tour starting October 18, 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri and ending January 9, 2008 in Albany, New York. Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: A Tale of Two Tweens

The moment that 13-year-old Miley Cyrus knew for sure that her life had taken a surreal turn happened just a few weeks ago, when her 6-year-old sister, Noah, sheepishly told her that she had entered a contest on the Disney Channel Web site to win backstage passes to a concert featuring the network's newest star. It was Miley.

Miley, left, with her co-star Emily Osment, who plays Lilly.

"You live with me!" Miley said she told her sister, before issuing a warning: don't even think about swiping anything from my bedroom to sell on eBay.
It sounded like something that might happen to Hannah Montana, the character Miley plays on the new hit Disney series of the same name. The half-hour sitcom is about a 14-year-old girl (named Miley Stewart), regarded by many of her middle-school peers as an outcast geek, who has a secret identity by night as the pop sensation Hannah Montana.

The series' premiere episode received an enormous boost on its opening night, March 24, by being packaged as the lead-in to an encore showing of the movie "High School Musical," the most-watched film in the 23-year history of Disney Channel. That night, with Corbin Bleu (Chad) of "High School Musical" as a guest star, "Hannah" attracted 5.4 million viewers. Since then, in its regular time slot (Fridays at 7 p.m. Eastern time), the show has drawn an average of more than 3.5 million viewers, most of them 6 to 14, making it the most popular show among so-called tweens on basic cable television nearly every week it has run.
Little wonder that Disney has already asked the producers of "Hannah," who include two veterans of the sitcom "Murphy Brown," to add 6 episodes to the 20 that were already scheduled for the first season. Believing that "Hannah" could also serve as a marketing platform akin to "Lizzie McGuire," the Disney Channel series that catapulted Hilary Duff to stardom and that spawned a cottage industry, Disney is also planning a "Hannah" soundtrack album, to be released in the fall, a Miley Cyrus album for early next year and, in all likelihood, a line of accessories that would probably include "Hannah" clothing.
Miley — who was born Destiny Hope Cyrus, but who has long preferred her nickname (Smiley Miley) — beat out more than 1,000 aspirants for the coveted role of Hannah, though she had little dramatic experience beyond some acting lessons and scattered roles in school plays in her native Nashville.
What ultimately won her the job, the producers and network executives say, was her cool confidence (a quality that stopped well short of cockiness), her intuitive comic timing (which seemed, at least to the older adults, evocative of what a teenage Lucille Ball
might have been like) and a husky singing voice not unlike Mary Chapin Carpenter's. In the bargain, Miley, who sings the show's theme song, was able to infuse Hannah with a real-life sense of the joys and perils of superstardom.
Miley is one of five children of Billy Ray Cyrus, who became known in the early 1990's for the foot-stomping anthem "Achy Breaky Heart" and who, until recently, could be seen in the United States and more than 40 other countries in original episodes of a drama called "Doc," a show about a country physician who relocates to New York City. That series, on PAX, enabled Mr. Cyrus to parlay his "Achy Breaky" exposure into an improbable career as an international TV star, in much the way David Hasselholff
used his fame as an American TV star to become a pop singer abroad. (Attentive viewers of the 2001 David Lynch film "Mulholland Drive" may have also noticed Mr. Cyrus in the bit part of Gene, the pool man.)
Mr. Cyrus, 44, has a role on "Hannah," too. He plays Miley's father, Robbie, but he was asked to audition only after his daughter landed her part. And when he was offered the role, he says, he wasn't sure whether he should take it.
"I didn't know if I was right for her dad," he said, seriously, as he strummed an acoustic guitar in a cavernous dressing room on the show's Hollywood soundstage, where he and Miley occupy adjoining alcoves, separated by a frilly curtain (hers). "The last thing I would want to do is screw up Miley's show."
Mindful that Miley is working alongside her father at an age when she might be craving a little less togetherness, Mr. Cyrus said he had been careful to give his daughter lots of space. He has, he said, made a point of biting his tongue hard to avoid giving her any unsolicited acting advice.
"I never say, 'I'd do it like that,' " he said, before adding that Miley was far more likely to tell him, "It might be funny if you do it that way."
Of working so closely with her famous father, Miley said: "At the beginning it was a little bit weird. We'd get into little arguments."
"Now," she added, "it's really good."
To devote themselves full-time to the production of "Hannah," on which Miley, a seventh grader, is tutored on the set, Mr. Cyrus and his wife, Tish, moved her and her four siblings to Los Angeles from Nashville. She reluctantly left behind her family's seven horses, as well as a number of good friends.
Young viewers will be pleased to know that she has helped fill that void by befriending two co-stars — Emily Osment and Mitchel Musso, both 14 — who also play her best friends, Lilly and Oliver, on the show. At least early in the series, Lilly and Oliver are the only schoolmates whom the fictional Miley trusts with the secret that she is really Hannah.
In real life, Emily, Mitchel and Miley say they are constantly sending each other text messages offstage and gathering, at least electronically, in the evening for three-way conference calls in which they talk like the teenagers they are.
The message underlying "Hannah" — one meant to strike a chord with parents, as well as with their children — is that celebrity is not to be confused with real life, and that happiness comes when one stays true to oneself. Thus, the on-screen Miley is constantly faced with the temptation to reveal her alternate, bewigged identity to her schoolmates, who pay her little mind but have Hannah pictures plastered inside their lockers.
The real-life Miley still has to make her bed and clean up her room at home. In her father, Miley says, she has a role model as grounded as a daughter (and teenage star) could have. A thoughtful man who is readily self-deprecating, Mr. Cyrus has, for example, written a tongue-in-cheek song for a forthcoming album that tries to turn jokes about his 1990's hairstyle back on his critics. Its title: "I Want My Mullet Back."
On more occasions than she could possibly count, Miley says, she has also watched her father get button-holed for autographs during meals out, and, however much he might have been inconvenienced, watched him sign his name with a smile.
"He'll say: 'These are people supporting you. Be good to them,' " Miley said.
Which is not to say that the real-life Miley has grown comfortable with the notion of being recognized in malls, among many other places.
"I have always been known as Billy Ray Cyrus's daughter," she said. "Now they say my name. I freak out!"
